Ronald Wicks

Dr. Richard A Vladovic Harbor Teacher Preparatory Academy in Wilmington, CA.

Hey everyone! My name is Ronald Wicks. I am a Junior at Dr. Richard A Vladovic Harbor Teacher Preparatory Academy (HTPA). I am founder and president of HTPA’s EdRising Chapter. HTPA is a middle college designed for students who have an interest in the education field and provides them the opportunity to concurrently earn a high school diploma and an Associate Arts degree.

I aspire to become an education administrator in hopes to reform and better the education system. Being apart of organizations such as; Youth & Government (Y&G), National Society of Black
Engineers (NSBE), Health Occupation Student Association (HOSA), and Pomona Academy for Youth Success (PAYS) gives me a wide perspective on the different things to address in the education system.

As VP, I will assist with planning, organization, facilitation and supervision of regional and state conferences. I hope to make this year’s EdRising California program more exciting for all chapters.

Emily Macedo

Secretary: Emily Macedo

Esperanza High School in Anaheim, CA.

My name is Emily Macedo and I am currently a senior at Esperanza High School. I am so honored to have this amazing opportunity to show you guys what I can contribute to the field of education. I am a hard working student and I take great pride in everything I do. I have been apart of my schools Educators Rising chapter for two years now, and I am happy to say this is an organization I am incredibly passionate about. I am confident and always up for a challenge no matter how hard the challenge may seem at first glance.

Outside of Educators Rising I am active in multiple extracurricular organizations. I am also on the board for an organization called the Literacy Advocates club, in which I volunteer my time after school to read with elementary school kids to teach them the value and power in reading.

Along with being a board member of this club, I am also a student teacher in training at a local elementary school. I teach a dual-enrollment program for 2nd graders three days a week and my favorite part is that I get to teach students both in Spanish and in English. This is an incredible experience for me, because I am on my journey to become a middle school Spanish teacher. This year I look forward to gaining more leadership skills while working with such a tremendous group of future educators.

Fabian Del La Cruz

Southern California Representative: Fabian Del La Cruz

San Marcos Senior High School in Santa Barbara, CA.

My name is Fabian De La Cruz, I live in Santa Barbara California and I am a senior at San Marcos Senior High School. This is my second year being part of Educators Rising and I’m really excited to get more involved with this organization. In my free time I like to give back to the community through many community service projects. The biggest project I am currently involved in is being part of a non profit organization called Kids Helping Kids at my school. We take the AP Economics course and what we learn from that class guides us in planning our annual benefit concert at the Granada Theater and raise money for kids in India to stop sex trafficking  and who don’t have access to and education.I am also a fashion designer. I made my debut as a designer on April 7th, 2018 in the Hearts On Fire Fashion Show celebrating transgender day of visibility at the Lobero Theater. The name of my line is called "Alegria " which means to celebrate the beautiful and happy things in life. In the future I hope to attend California State University, Long Beach and become a teacher and work in the theater education field. Theater has shaped me to be a confident strong person and I want to share my passion for the performing arts with everyone. I want to create a traveling theater company that will be able to do performances and spread theater to schools that can't afford a theater program all over the country. Potentially I want to take that company to parts of the world to students that can’t afford a theater program. I also want to start my own theater academy called “River and Bear” theater academy to train artists and to make them the best that they can be.
