This virtual packet includes general information about Speak Up, instructions, ideas for how you can use your data, flyers, and more. For your convenience, we’ve included both a PDF version and an editable Microsoft Word document version of the packet – feel free to make any changes to the text. We hope this helps you prepare for this year’s online data collection process!

5 Tips to Help Parents Speak Up
Every school has a parent population that always “speaks up.” We hope these tips help you think about ways to get feedback from those who are not quite as involved, those who may not have their own devices or internet access at home and those who aren’t checking your websites and social media accounts.
General Speak Up Information Flyer
Start spreading the word about Speak Up to your community! Share this speak up flyer with your staff, parents and local community members. Provides background information on the Speak Up Research project, available audience data collections, question topics and benefits of participation. Also a great email, newsletter or email template!

The Speak Up Student flyer is an easy way to share the Speak Up URL to participants. We recommend posting this flyer around your school(s) or to send home with students as a way to get their parents involved. On the back of the flyer, provide the Spanish translation.

This step by step participation guide is a great starting point for schools and districts to use when introducing the Speak Up Research Project for Digital Learning to interested stakeholders. The participation guide includes background information on Speak Up, the benefits of participation, how to get involved, question themes and quotes from other educators on their experience with Speak Up. We recommend using this presentation in your school/district leader meetings, as a promotional tool for districts to send to school administrators unfamiliar with the project or as way to get parents involved. This standard PowerPoint presentation can be edited to include information from your own school or district.

This month by month timeline outlines our suggestions on how and when to encourage participation to ensure a significant sampling of representative data is collected in your district. Included are important Speak Up deadlines, participation emails dates and tips for encouraging participation.

Tips to Help Your Parents Speak Up!
We know you want your all of your parents to share their opinions and experiences as part of your Speak Up effort this year. We’ve put together a few tips from other Speak Up schools and districts on how they have encouraged their parents to share their views, and how they have made it easier for more parents to participate.
Download a digital badge or Student Certificate
Proudly display your Speak Up participation with our Speak Up digital badges and student participation certificates. Display your digital badge on your website, your e-mails, your social media sites, blog, and more! Then encourage your students to participate with our Speak Up certificate of completion template. Enjoy, and remember to get the rest of your community to Speak Up from October through January!
