Want to learn more about how AI can impact learning?
Ask a high school student!
Preliminary Speak Up Research on Generative AI suggests that student familiarity with Generative AI surpasses teacher familiarity by nearly 7 times.
Recent study findings from Education Week (2024) support the preliminary Speak Up findings, reporting that two-thirds (66%) of educators are not using AI in the classroom and an even higher percentage (70%) have never received professional development on AI use.
You may be wondering, what does this mean and how does it impact my work in K-12 education?
Project Tomorrow’s Speak Up Research seeks to answer those (and more) important questions in order to understand the current environment in our schools – not only including the teacher perspective, but highlighting the otherwise underrepresented voice in this conversation – the student perspective:
- How are your students & teachers using Gen AI today?
- What is their interest level in using Gen AI?
- What do teachers & students see as the challenges and benefits?
- What are the opportunities we should be leveraging?
