Internet Safety Town Hall:
NECC 2008, San Antonio, Texas
On June 30, 2008, Julie Evans, CEO of Project Tomorrow, took part in an Internet Safety Town Hall Meeting at the National Educational Computing Conference in San Antonio, Texas. Julie shared the views of students, parents, and educators on the issue of internet safety citing the latest data from Speak Up 2007. Anastasia Goodstein, the keynote speaker and author of Totally Wired and the Ypulse blog, outlined how today's teens are using technology and the virtual worlds and social networks they're using to stay connected.
The Internet Safety Panel was moderated by Amanda Lenhart, senior research specialist with the Pew Internet and American Life Project, and included Jeanne Biddle, director of technology with Scott County Schools in Kentucky and ISTE board member; Julie Evans, CEO of Project Tomorrow; and Jake Young, a high school senior and member of the Speak Up Student Advisory Council from Spring, Texas.
